It the Morning after breakfast Visit Blue Nile Falls The falls are approached on foot from the nearby village which gives them their name-Tissisat means “smoke of fire’ After crossing over a castellated 17th century Portuguese bridge that spans a deep basaltic rift, a grassy rise is climbed and then the falls suddenly appear-breaking the smooth unfaltering flow of the Nile into a boiling cataract and sending it foaming down the gorge below. it plunges more than 2000 meters in its 800 kilometer course from Ethiopia to the plains of the Sudan it is the Blue Nile which embodies the drama and mystery of the fret river if history-beginning its journey with a thundering cascade of 50 meters over the 400 meters wide Tissisat Falls, 30 Kilometer downstream from the point leaves Lake Tana.
In the afternoon, boat trip on Lake Tana which is the source of the Blue Nile River and visit the Island monasteries, Some 30 minutes cruise by motor launch from Bahir Dar, and island cloaked with lush forest just out of the water. It’s here that the 17 monks in the 15th century Kebrane Gebriel monastery spend their days in meditation, cultivating their gardens.
